A brief history of the local assembly

The apostolic church Ghana arrived in Tema in the early 50’s.  We had branches in Tema New Town, Community 1 and Community 2 respectively.  Tema was not very developed so these assemblies were actually located in the developed parts of Tema.  These Assemblies served all the citizens of Tema.

As the city developed and was enlarging, people from all other communities had to fellowship from either of the three branches.  It actually became a whole travelling experience for others so some of the members who were always coming from far to worship (especially those who had relocated from nearby i.e. Community One, Two, Five etc. to Communities, Seven, Eight and Nine) decided to start an assembly so that they will fellowship there.

The idea was laudable so these people through Madam Sophiah Agyeman secured a class room from the proprietress of Desk Preparatory School and fellowship there.  The District organized a crusade at Community 8 Market.  The crusade was well patronized and many souls were worn and added to this assembly.  With time, the assembly grew in strength and size with signs and wonders following at every meeting.  There was the need to move to a bigger place.  Again the Proprietress of Desks Preparatory School came to our aid and granted us a portion of the school’s football field to raise a temporal structure for our worship.  This gave us the Name Community 8 Assembly.  We used to organize crusades, prayer retreats, revivals and they were awesome.  During one such event the President at the time visited and called the Assembly a Royal Assembly, hence the name Royal Assembly

This portion became our place of worship from 1976 to date when the assembly purchased a land at Community 11 to build its own auditorium
